Reflection: The institution is obviously strict to actually punish a young girl for having naturally full and curly hair. The man in charge forced the girls to cut off all of their hair because somehow having hair affects their learning ability. Mr. Brocklehurst is the epitomy of a hipocrit. He bashed the students at Lowood for not looking dull and simple enough, yet two seconds after his little rant his elaborately dressed wife and daughters come strutting in. Their hair was all curled, their dresses velvet, their shawls of fur, and their skin decked with jewels. It's upsetting to read about Mr. Brocklehurst downgrading the women of the institution for allowing a young girl to keep her curly locks when his daughters are more than likely spoiled brats. He was simply finding an excuse to bash Lowood and act like he was helping the school improve when all he did was create drama and cause pain. How pathetic to make such an outrage over a girl with naturally curly hair.
